Solar Product Testing at the North Carolina Solar Center

The North Carolina Solar Center (NCSC) has over 15 years of experience testing solar collectors and systems. The center’s engineers have provided performance testing to designers, manufacturers, and distributors of large scale concentrating solar thermal systems, low cost solar air heaters, concentrating PV systems, traditional PV modules, flat plate solar thermal collectors, and evacuated tube solar thermal collectors.

The N.C. Solar Center plans to begin operating a newly updated facility to test flat-plate and evacuated tube solar thermal collectors in 2012 for SRCC OG-100 certification. The lab is in the process of becoming an SRCC accredited test laboratory. The laboratory is committed to supporting the solar thermal industry of North Carolina, as well as the US and International industries, by providing standardized testing as well as custom testing of solar and related equipment. As an accredited testing laboratory, the North Carolina State University Solar Center Testing Laboratory pledges to provide dependable, repeatable, and affordable results. Providing a custom lab or field testing to demonstrate durability and performance.

The NCSC Testing Laboratory expects to hold the following:

ISO 17025 Accreditation (In Process)

SRCC Laboratory Accreditation (In Process).

The N.C. Solar Center Testing Laboratory plans to be one of just a handful of labs in the US accredited by the SRCC to perform testing.
